When fuel price is much higher than usual, freight carriers may charge an additional fee to cover extra
fuel expenses. Fuel surcharge is quoted per mile (or km) rather than by a total amount. The normal fuel
price, where a surcharge is not applied, is called the base fuel price.
- MPG: miles per gallon
- KPL: kilometers per liter
- Base Fuel Price: base fuel price per gallon (or liter). If this is equal to the
current price, there is no fuel surcharge.
- Base Fuel Cost per Distance: base fuel cost per mile (or kilometer)
- Current Fuel Price: current fuel price per gallon (or liter)
- Current Fuel Cost per Distance: current fuel cost per mile (or kilometer)
